SSVM March for Life 2015 Washington DC

March for Life 2015 – Washington, DC USA

On January 22 marked the 42nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal throughout the United States of America. Since that tragic decision, more than 56 million children’s lives have been lost to abortion, not to mention the countless mothers and fathers who suffer their absence.

Delivering the Homily at a vigil Mass on Wednesday evening in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, the Archbishop of Boston and Chairman of the US Bishops’ Committee on Pro-life Activities, Cardinal Sean O’Malley called on all people dedicated to the cause of life to renew their commitment to serve the weakest and most vulnerable – to making the Gospel credible by witnessing the joy it brings to those who confess and live the Good News.

Cardinal O’Connor directed the attention of those present saying, “We must work tirelessly to change the unjust laws, but we must work even harder to change hearts, to build a civilization of love.  Solidarity and community are the antidotes to the individualism and alienation that lead people on the path of abortion and euthanasia.”

Cardinal O’Connor closed his powerful homily with these words, “The challenges we face are great and discouragement is our greatest enemy. But know that Jesus is looking on us with love.  His love should energize and unite us.  No sacrifice is too great, we must not count the cost, but press on with the full assurance that we shall overcome.”

Please join us in prayer and sacrifice for this very important intention, begging our Lord, through the intercession of His Blessed Mother, for an end to abortion.
