“The Breath of Mercy” – A Reflection Published by Sr. Maria del Fiat Miola, SSVM

"In the corporal works of mercy we touch the flesh of Christ in our brothers and sisters who need to be fed, clothed, sheltered, visited,...In the spiritual works of mercy -- counsel, instruction, forgiveness, admonishment and prayer -- we touch more directly our own sinfulness." [1]

Sr. Maria del Fiat Miola, SSVM is currently a doctoral candidate studying Early Christianity at the Catholic University of America (Washington, DC).  In 2014, during spring break, Sr. Fiat volunteered at our home for disabled children in Bethlehem, “Hogar Niño Dios.”   She recounts her experience in, “The Breath of Mercy” published by First Things.

In this holy year of mercy, we are called to reflect on ourselves and act on doing works of mercy.  Because it is through these works of charity, that we will bring Christ to others and through those works we will also convert our own hearts.
